Dr. Mary Rotzien founded Child S.H.A.R.E. in 1985 with seed funding and key leadership from Westwood Presbyterian Church, shortly after serving a clinical internship at MacLaren Hall, Los Angeles County’s emergency shelter for abused and neglected children.  The program was a direct response to thousands of foster children, including infants and toddlers, languishing in institutional care in Southern California. Convinced that the faith community could provide families for these children, Dr. Rotzien challenged the local congregations to respond to the crisis with “wrap around” ministry with foster parents, respite homes, babysitters and volunteers from local churches.  Dr. Rotzien received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fuller School of Psychology in 1989 and is now in private practice in Pasadena, CA.
