Child S.H.A.R.E. Family Honored

Child S.H.A.R.E. parents Kimberly & Frederick Millner were recently honored by  L.A. County Supervisor Michael Antonovich at a benefit dinner hosted by the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services.  “All for the Love of Kids,” was held at the LA County Arboretum & Botanic Gardens in Arcadia.  The Millners and adopted son, A.J. received an award in recognition of their active involvement in the foster care and adoption arena.

As one who was raised in the L.A. County foster care system, Frederick grew up as a true success story.  Instead of being angry and bitter, Fredrick decided to give back to those who grew up in foster care.  Two and a half years ago, Fred and Kim received a phone call about a four month old baby who had been severely abused.  With three fractured ribs, a left arm in a splint and numerous bruises and scratches, he was left fighting for his life.  When Kim heard that the baby was born on June 28, the Millner’s wedding anniversary, she felt as though the relationship was predestined and the baby quickly became a member of their family.

Kimberly, Frederick & A.J.’s story was profiled in the CBS special, “A Home for the Holidays” and in several local newspapers.  Child S.H.A.R.E. congratulates the entire Millner family on receiving this honor as they continue to advocate for finding safe and stable homes for children all across Southern California.  Congratulations, Millners!
