Team Child S.H.A.R.E. Runner Wins 5k
On Memorial Day, Team Child S.H.A.R.E. was indeed the LA Marathon champion. Surpassing our 2007 record of 175 participants, Team Child S.H.A.R.E. was out in force at the 2009 LA Marathon with over 250 runners, walkers, bikers and Block Party volunteers.
Team Child S.H.A.R.E. passed out 150 pounds of oranges, 30 pounds of watermelon and countless gallons of water and Gatorade to breathless, grateful runners at Mile 13 (ok, it was ALMOST mile 14!).
Incredibly, Child S.H.A.R.E. Team member, Matthew Johnson took 3rd place in the 5K, and first in his age group, with a time of 17:32. Matthew joined the Child S.H.A.R.E. Team as a part of Grace Hills Church- Team Running On Purpose, lead by his father Grace Hills Senior Pastor Mike Johnson, who ran the full Marathon.
Not to be outdone, Matthew’s sister-in-law, Jenni Johnson took FIRST PLACE in the 5K, finishing the race in 18:52. Pastor Mike Johnson’s other 3 children were not far behind, all completing the 5K with impressive times. What an extraordinary family and what an incredible team!
