Finding a Forever Family
Kelsie Strickland is eleven years old and as she approaches her teens she has begun to wonder about her biological parents. She recently lamented to her younger brother Savonte, “I don’t even know who my real parents are.” To which an incredulous Savonte replied, “I do, cause I have a forever family!”
Alena, his mother, says this is not the typical language she uses. The words a “forever family” are something Savonte has learned in his 3 years of attending Child S.H.A.R.E. events. Child S.H.A.R.E. has helped both Kelsie and Savonte find safety, stability and love in their forever family.
