CHILDREN’S CHARITY RELEASES VIDEO ABOUT LA MARATHON

GLENDALE, CA: Child S.H.A.R.E. (Support, Hope, Advocacy, Resources), a non-profit organization that finds quality foster and adoptive homes for abused, abandoned and neglected children has released a 2009 LA Marathon Campaign video. Running 60 seconds, the video follows 12 year old Child S.H.A.R.E Team member Toby Dunlap.

The video highlights Dunlap’s volunteerism with Child S.H.A.R.E., which includes raising $2,100 through sponsorships to help find homes for foster children by biking in the 2008 LA Marathon. Admitting that “it’s a very long bike ride”, Dunlap adds, “I feel like I’ve accomplished something great when I finish!”

For the past 3 years Dunlap has secured sponsorships from family, friends and classmates to support Child S.H.A.R.E. at the LA Marathon. Dunlap explains, “I think that it is great that these people take the time to help out these kids who need homes…and because when my Dad was 9 years old he was a foster child.”

An official charity of the LA Marathon for 14 years, Child S.H.A.R.E. is challenging the community to “Run. Walk. Bike. Their Talk for Child S.H.A.R.E.” Asking “How far would you journey for your family?,” Child S.H.A.R.E. seeks to increase foster care awareness and find safe, stable and loving families for the 20,000 abused children currently in foster care in LA and Orange County.

The video was filmed and produced by Portnoy Media Group. Music for the video was generously liscensed by Williams Fitzsimmons, showcasing the song “Afterall” from Fitzsimmons album “Goodnight.” The video can be viewed at Child S.H.A.R.E.’s official website www.childshare.org as well as on YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook.

Founded in 1985 in California, Child S.H.A.R.E. places approximately 200 children a year in foster homes. Since 2002, one in three foster children in a Child S.H.A.R.E. home is adopted – almost twice the national 18 percent average. Child S.H.A.R.E. is the nation’s only program that networks the deaf and faith communities together to recruit and support American Sign Language-fluent homes for deaf foster children.

Child S.H.A.R.E. works with an ecumenical network of over 350 partner congregations and community groups. The network is denominationally, ethnically and culturally diverse and includes services in three languages (English, Spanish, and American Sign Language).

The LA Marathon will be held on Memorial Day, May 25th and includes a 26.2 mile race, a 5K and Bike Tour. For more information or to join the Child S.H.A.R.E. LA Marathon Team, please visit www.childshare.org/marathon, call Amanda Turek, at 818.649.8016, or email her at aturek@childshare.org.
