A Beginning
On Tuesday, December 16th, 2008, twenty-five families from The Rock Church in Anaheim completed their PRIDE training classes in order to become foster and/or adoptive parents!
The PRIDE series was held on the church campus, allowing families to take the classes together in a place they all know and love. Sharon Landis from the County of Orange Social Services did a stand out job teaching the classes. Everyone agreed that the information she provided will be essential as they seek to welcome children into their homes! Child S.H.A.R.E. was present throughout the series and on the final day of classes to encourage families and assist them as they launch a peer support ministry in their church.
Today we can only imagine the faces of children whose lives will be transformed by the love and care of these twenty-five families. We can only dream of the other men and women from within The Rock Church who, seeing the service of their church members, will also step forward to provide homes for children. Tuesday, December 16th, is a day we will look back on and remember as the beginning of a movement, a movement of compassion within The Rock Church for children in the Orange County foster care system.
